Thirsk Hard of Hearing club celebrated last week their 30th Birthday. Members had afternoon tea in the garden of their chairman. They were able to reminisce about visits & outings over the years and there was lots of laughter. There was some sadness in the mix as some of the past members have passed away. Leaving some special memories. Some ex members were invited to come along and it was lovely to see them.
The club meets usually at East Thirsk Hall 2-00pm once a month, they have a full programme of activity which they follow and sometimes divert from if things crop up they feel they would like to attend. It is a very informal group and very friendly. Anyone wishing to come along to see if its for them is most welcome. New members are always welcome.

Pat is the current leader of the club and is wanting to take a back seat very soon so we are on the lookout for a new leader, someone who has empathy with people who struggle with their hearing not necessarily deaf.
Been the leader is not to onerous it involves planning the programme for the year, making sure everyone knows what the next meeting involves ,where they need to be etc. If you would like a chat about maybe been the new volunteer leader then again please contact Gill or Beverley volunteer co-ordinator at Thirsk Community Care.
